Superb, WH (Heeres ie. Waffen-SS) 'Demjansk'-campaign-shield as executed in typical magnetic, so-called: 'Eisenblech' (and being of the 'missing-log' variant-pattern)
This is an attractive - and/or very detailed! - example of the (actually nowadays fairly scarcely encountered!) WH (Heeres ie. Waffen-SS) so-called: 'Demjansk'-campaign-shield being of the 'missing-log' variant-pattern that comes in an overall very nice- (I deem issued- albeit never used- nor once tunic-attached- ie. still 'virtually mint'), condition. The (magnetic and minimally converse-shaped-) shield - which is executed in greyish-silver-coloured so-called: 'Eisenblech' - comes naturally complete with its metal back-plate and retains its originally attached pins ie. prongs in place and does show its (fully preserved!) typical greyish-green-toned) so-called 'backing'-paper (as can be seen on the pictures). The shield - that comes mounted onto its field-grey-woolen cloth - shows some minimal aging caused by storage and handling but still retains nice detail as to be expected. The piece does show, however, some minimal 'scratches' within the swastika-area (as can be noticed on the pictures: maybe the recipient wanted to denazify this piece but was luckily unsuccesful). The shield was found as such at a private-household in Germany and was simply stored as such for decades: it was never before in a collection. It should furthermore be mentioned that these 'Demjansk'-campaign-shields are nowadays hard to come by. Simply a very nice - and naturally original! - example of this collectable and desirable campaign-shield that nowadays is not that often offered for sale: I deem that I have priced this example accordingly!
