This is a very attractive - albeit just moderately worn- ie. used - example of an: 'Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse' (or: Iron Cross 1st class) being an - I deem - fairly early-period- and/or clearly maker- (ie. '26'-) marked example as was produced by the maker (ie. 'Hersteller'): 'B.H. Mayers' Kunstprägeanstalt' (ie. 'Hersteller 26') and that comes as issued and/or recently found and that comes in an overall very nice- (albeit moderately used- and/or worn-), condition. The magnetic (and typically non-vaulted) cross has a very attractive (somewhat darkened) age-patina and retains truly great detail: the black-coloured core shows no rust nor damage whatsoever: the (somewhat matted) black-coloured paint is truly fully preserved (something that is not always the case). The cross also retains some of its off-factory applied polished sides (ie. 'hochpolierte Kanten'). The back of the cross is just minimally stained and dirty (but was never cleaned nor polished). The (flute-shaped) pin and typical catch (ie. set-up) are naturally unaltered and/or fully functional. The cross is I deem - as stated above - an early-period example that was produced by the maker 'B.H. Mayers' Kunstprägeanstalt' as based in the town of Pforzheim and that was never before in a collection. I deem that this attactive example is accordingly priced!
