Attractive - and actually not that easily encountered! - so-called: RAD (ie. 'Reichsarbeitsdienst') officers'-pattern sleeve-badge (or: 'Dienststellenabzeichen') bearing the specialist- ie. unit-designation: '172/6'

This is an attractive - and actually not that easily encountered! - officers'-version of a so-called: RAD (ie. 'Reichsarbeitsdienst') sleeve-badge (or: 'Dienststellen-Abzeichen für Offiziere des Reichsarbeitsdienstes') bearing the specialist- ie. unit-unit-designation: '172/6' (as was presumably intended for a RAD senior-official who served within the 172nd district ie. 'Bezirk') and that comes in an overall very nice- (ie. simply never used- nor tunic-attached- ie. 'virtually mint- ie. unissued'-), condition. These attractive arm-badges were worn on the upper left sleeve of the mustard-coloured (officers'-type-) RAD-tunics and/or garments. The badge - which shows the red-coloured '172/6'-numerals - is neatly executed in so-called 'flat-wire'-like 'BeVo'-weave technique and was as such intended for an officer who served within the 172nd district ie. 'Bezirk'. The piece was never folded nor trimmed and originates from a smaller collection of rarely seen RAD cloth-insignia I recently acquired for the web-site. Of additional interest is, moreover, the interwoven makers'-designation (which is visible on its top). It should be noted that all RAD officers'-type badges are comparatively scarcely encountered!
