Interesting - and rarely seen! - greyish-toned, WH (Heeres) 'Gebirgsjäger'-related item: a semi-official, commemorative-medal (aka: 'Url') depicting a WWII-period IC and famous 'Edelweiss'-flowers coupled with text: '1.Gen.Kp. This is an attractive - and actually rarely found! - greyish-silver-toned- and/or - I deem - typical zinc- (ie. 'Feinzink'-) based, WH (Heeres) 'Gebirgsjäger'-related item: a semi-official, commemorative-medal (aka: 'Url' or: luck-bringer) depicting a WWII-period 'Eisernes Kreuz II. Kl.' (or iron-cross 2nd class) and famous 'Edelweiss'-flowers coupled with the text (on its front) that reads: '1.Gen.Kp. I.Geb.Jäg.E.Btl. 98' and on its back the text: 'Kriegsjahr 1943 - Garmisch-Partenkirchen' and that comes in an overall very nice- (albeit clearly used- ie. worn-), condition. The neat circular-shaped piece (having an approximate diameter of 3,5 cms.) came mounted onto its piece of (darker-blue) coloured ribbon (as can be noticed on the pictures). The piece is constructed from silverish-grey-toned zinc- (ie. 'Feinzink'-) based metal and shows most of its greyish-silver-toned finish: it has really nice and/or pronounced detail. I know that these desirable 'semi-official'-medals are also copied: this is naturally a genuine example that was never before part of a collection and originates from a German-household where it was recently uncovered. There is not much known about these commemorative 'medals' but they were most certainly highly desirable 'souvenir'-pieces. In any case is this a very attractive - and without doubt scarcely seen! - 'Gebirgsjäger'-related item that comes not that often for sale!
