This is a truly attractive example of a (Luftwaffe) bluish-grey-coloured- and/or steel-based 'variant'-pattern belt-buckle (ie. 'Koppelschloss für Mannschaften u. Unteroffiziere der Luftwaffe') being a neatly maker-marked- and/or: '1940'-dated example that comes mounted onto its natural-coloured leather-based tab and that comes in an overall very nice- (ie. I deem hardly worn- nor used-), condition. The buckle truly retains most of its fairly 'shiny'-styled, bluish-grey-coloured finish without showing any wear nor defaults: it was simply never cleaned nor polished and does just show some minimal dust and/or staining (as can be seen on the pictures). The inside of the buckle also shows some obvious dust caused by over more than 80 years of storage. The piece is a typical LW-'variant'-pattern belt-buckle and differs from the regular-pattern LW-belt-buckles because of the presence of a 'non-pebbled-styled'-background of the oval-shaped, eagles'-background (as can be clearly seen in the pictures). The buckle itself shows a (hard to decypher) logo (which is from the rarely found: 'Schmölle'-company based in the town of Menden. The leather-based tab is naturally also still fully functional and souple: it shows a clearly present, oval-shaped: 'Schmölle & Co. - Menden - 1940'-stamp (as can be clearly seen in the pictures) and remains in an equally nicely preserved condition overall (it was I deem never greased nor oiled but does show some minimal age ie. staining). The piece originates from an extensive belt-buckle-collection that I recently acquired for the web-site. Simply a very attractive, 'Schmölle'-marked, 'variant'-pattern 'Luftwaffe'-example that is priced according to its overall nice- ie. fully untouched condition!
