This is a truly attractive - and I deem mid- (ie. later-) war-period - typical zinc- (ie. 'Feinzink'-) based version of a so-called: WH (Luftwaffe) 'Erdkampfabzeichen' (or: ground-combat badge) being a (typical) non-maker-marked example that was produced by the desirable maker (ie. 'Hersteller') named: 'J.E. Hammer u. Söhne' and having a 'separately' (ie. firmly riveted) bright-silver-coloured eagle-device originally-attached and that comes in an overall very nice- (ie. issued and/or moderately used ie. worn-), condition. The neat and detailed badge comes naturally mounted onto its functional pin- and/or typical, 'J.E. Hammer'-type catch (ie. catch set-up). These mid- (ie. later-) war-period badges show a 'loose' and/or detailed bright-silver-coloured eagle-device attached (by means of a single rivet as is visible on the back). These zinc-based badges show, however, nice and/or pronounced detail overall. The badge truly retains all of its period finish but does show a minimally tarnished age-patina as is more often encountered. The badge can with certainty be attributed to the desirable maker: 'J.E. Hammer u. Söhne' based in the town of Geringswalde: the specific details on this badge naturally fully corroborate this. The piece was (I deem) never cleaned: the bright-silver-coloured eagle-device also retains a very detailed appearance (as can be seen on the pictures). Simply a very attractive - and garuanteed original! - zinc- (ie. 'Feinzink'-) based by 'J.E. Hammer u. Söhne'-produced 'variant' of this desirable LW-war-badge!
