This is an attractive - and I deem moderately used- ie. worn - example of an: 'Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen in Silber' (or: silver assault-badge ie. IAB) being a neat maker- (ie. 'GWL'-) marked, zinc- (ie. 'Feinzink'-) version ie. molded-'variant' as was procuded by the: 'Gebrüder Wegerhoff'-company based in the town of Lüdenscheid and that comes as issued and/or recently found. The badge is a non-vaulted- (ie. typical zinc- ie. 'Feinzink'-based-) example that retains a fair bit of its period-applied silver-coloured finish (as is not always the case): it has a typical, silverish-toned, 'zinc-like'-age-patina as more often seen with IABs by this maker. This particular example comes naturally mounted onto its functional (thin-shaped- and/or silver-coloured-) pin which shows a typical mounting and/or molded-type catch as to be expected. The piece is very detailed and has a very pronounced appearance: the award has I deem moderately been used and shows some wear ie. dirt on some the obvious higher-placed areas: it was, however, most certainly never cleaned nor polished. This IAB originated from a private-household in Germany and was never before in collectors'-hands. In any case a very attractive and honest IAB that is accordingly priced!
