This is an attractive - and I deem clearly worn- and/or used - example of an: 'Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse' (or: Iron Cross 1st class) being a detailed and non-maker-marked example as was produced by the desirable maker (ie. 'Hersteller') named: 'Rudolf Wächtler & Lange' (ie. 'Hersteller 100') as was based in the town of Mittwaida in Sachsen and that came stored in its original, simulated leather-based- (and fairly luxuriously styled- and 'domed'-) etui as issued and/or recently found and that comes in an overall nice- (surely issued and/or clearly used- and/or worn-), condition. The (typical) non-magnetic cross has an overall nice age-patina and retains truly great detail: the black-coloured core shows no rust nor real damage: the satin-like, black-coloured painted core is just nicely preserved and the cross does just show some paint-loss on the swastika (as can be seen on the pictures). The cross has lost, however, its 'off-factory applied' polished sides (ie. 'hochpolierte Kanten'). The back of the cross is just a tiny bit stained (but was never cleaned nor polished). The (flute-shaped) pin and catch (ie. set-up) are naturally unaltered and/or fully functional. The (early-styled) etui comes also in a very fine and fully complete condition: the silver-rimmed cross that figures on the etui's top is in a very nice and undamaged condition whereas the black-coloured- and/or velvet-like interior is also present and in place which does show hardly any age nor staining (as can be seen on the pictures). The cross (ie. matching set!) is an evident specimen that was produced by the desirable maker (ie. 'Hersteller'): 'Rudolf Wächtler & Lange' as was based in the town of Mittwaida in Sachsen: it has very nice and/or pronounced detail as to be expected for a cross by this maker. Simply an attractive - and fully matching! - early-period, IC1-set by the 'Rudolf Wächtler & Lange'-company and that was never before part of a collection: I deem that I have priced this attractive and untouched example accordingly!
