The truly attractive - regrettably single but actually not that easily found! - WH (Heeres) shoulderboard is a typical, 'text-book'-example of the 'Heeres'-pattern, officers'-type shoulderboard and has the greyish-silver toned (ie. somewhat 'sub-dued') 'upperdeck': it was with certainty issued and worn as such and does show some moderate age, wear and/or staining (as can be seen on the pictures). The board shows the desirable darker-green- (ie. 'grüner'-) coloured branchcolour (and was constructed from the 'smooth-type' wool as to be expected). It never had any tongue attached and was with certainty intended - and worn! - as a board of the 'sew-in'-pattern (as can be seen on the pictures). The board measures approximately 10,5 cms. in length and shows a matching set of (minimally tarnished, golden-toned, smaller-sized- and/or identical) '9'-numerals (ie. 'Ziffern') and a single (equally styled) pip period-attached denoting the rank of: 'Oberstleutnant' (ie. lieutnant-colonel). All three devices are just minimally stained- ie. tarnished (as can be seen on the pictures). Taking into account, the fact that this board has a somewhat 'sub-dued'-type 'upperdeck' I deem that it was a board that was with certainty intended to be used on a regular, front-used tunic. It should also be mentioned that these (fairly high-ranked) officers'-pattern, 'Gebirgjäger'-related shoulderboards are actually quite hard to come by and can easily be graded 'fairly scarce'. Simply an attractive WH (Heeres) shoulderboard that belonged an: 'Oberstleutnant des Gebirgsjäger-Regiments 99' (part of the '1. Gebirgs-Division')!
