This is an attractive - and actually as such scarcely encountered! - (I deem) enlisted-mens'- (ie. NCO-) type, so-called: 'Schutzmannschaften' (or: 'Schuma') cap-cocarde being an example as was executed in greyish-coloured (albeit somewhat stained) thread onto a black-coloured background and that comes in an overall nice- (ie. never used- ie. 'virtually mint'-), condition. These neat cap-cocardes as executed in greyish-coloured thread on a black-coloured- ie. 'Polizei'-type background signified as such the close interrelation between the - notorious! - 'Schuma'-units and the German police (ie. 'Polizei') ie. Waffen-SS and/or SD-units. I personally think that this cap-badge was intended for enlisted-mens'- ie. NCO-usage: it was executed in the neat machine-woven pattern (almost certainly by the 'BeVo' company of Wuppertal). The neat piece was never trimmed- nor folded- ie. confectioned and was once glued into an album or scrapbook: it still shows some glue-remains on its back: it also shows some age, wear and/or staining (as can be clearly noticed on the pictures). This particular example originates from a smaller 'SS/SD'-collection that was compiled over the years and that I recently acquired for the web-site. Simply a very attractive and scarcely encountered 'Ostvölker'-related cap-badge!
