This is an attractive - albeit IMO moderately used ie. worn - example of an: 'Infanterie Sturmabzeichen in Silber' (or silver assault-badge ie. IAB), being a non-maker-marked, zinc- (ie. 'Feinzink'-) version ie. 'variant' (having an unusually seen 'crimped set-up'!), as was procuded by the unusally encountered: 'Funcke u. Brüninghaus'-company based in Lüdenscheid, in overall nice (albeit moderately used ie. worn-) condition. The badge is a non-vaulted- and/or typical zinc- (ie. 'Feinzink'-) based example that retains a fair bit of its period-applied silver-coloured finish: it has a typical 'zinc-based' age-patina as more often seen with zinc-based IABs by this maker. This particular example comes naturally mounted on its functional (thin-shaped- and/or silver-coloured-) pin which shows a (variant 'crimped catch & pin set-up' as is more often seen - see pictures). The piece is very detailed and has a very pronounced appearance: the award has IMO been moderately used and shows some wear ie. dirt on some the obvious higher-placed areas: it was however most certainly never cleaned nor polished. It originated from a private household in Germany and was never before in collector-hands. The maker of this particular IAB is the: 'Funcke u. Brüninghaus'-company based in Lüdenscheid something that is affirmed by the various specifications and/or details as can be seen on the pictures. In any case an attractive and honest IAB that is IMO accordingly priced!
