'Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse' in 'Überkarton'
This is a very nice item: a maker-marked \'Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse\' (IC 1st class) that comes in its orignal box of issue and (white/yellowish) so-called \'Überkarton\'. The cross is neatly maker-marked: \'100\' (on the back of the flute-shaped pin) signifying that it was produced by the \'Rudolf Wächtler u. Söhne\' company based in Mittwaida. The semi-leather (and quite luxurious) etui is in a very nice, almost mint condition. The \'Überkarton\' shows usage and slight damage (some of the inner-flaps are missing) but is still fully functional and was always with this set. The cross surely once had so-called: \'Hochpolierte Kanten\' but shows now a somewhat darkened age tarnish: it is IMO never cleaned. A very nice and surely desirable IC1st class set!
